The completion of the works of the first phase of restoration in the #Castle_Al-Hosn in the governorate of #Homs, as part of the agreement signed between the General Directorate of Antiquities and Museums, the Saint Ephrem the Syriac Patriarchal Authority for Development and the Patriarchate of Antioch and All the East for the Syriac Orthodox, which included the Al-Zahir Baybars Tower and the closures of the church tower and the Ottoman house.
During the tour of the Minister of Culture, Dr. Lubana Mushawah, and the Governor of Homs, Engineer Bassam Parsik, today to see the reality of the executed works, the Minister of Culture confirmed that the restoration project that the castle is witnessing is carried out in cooperation between the Ministry of Culture, the General Directorate of Antiquities and Museums, the Saint Ephrem Al-Syrian Organization and a number of researchers from Antakya University, considering the castle an archaeological site. A great civilization, noting that meeting all these experiences and young people in this place confirms their love for the place, with the need to restore the glory of that lofty castle and to invest it in an optimal way that benefits the region, indicating that after the completion of the first restoration phase, the second phase will be launched.
The Governor of Homs indicated that the restoration and rehabilitation work that the castle is witnessing will contribute to increasing the number of its visitors, as it is one of the most important global castles frequented by visitors, stressing that the castle and its tourist role in the valley provide the people with local job opportunities as a tourist development pole for the surrounding area.
For his part, Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II, Patriarch of Antioch and the rest of the East for the Syriac Orthodox, said that our presence today in this citadel confirms that we are a civilized people who own hundreds of historical archaeological sites that bear witness to our heritage, pointing out that the state of partnership witnessed by the castle is a first step towards the presence of capable Syrian cadres To make a survey of our monuments to restore and bring them back to life.
It is noteworthy that the works of the first phase included the restoration of the Al-Zahir Baybars Tower and its surroundings, the restoration of the facade of the tower and the vault, in addition to the adjacent staircase and the isolation of the staircase of the tower, the restoration of the entrance to the Western Calorie, the existing arches, the Sultan Qalawun Tower, and the installation of wooden doors and windows for the church in order to close them and protect the drawings in them from moisture. An emergency restoration was also added in The first stage included the Ottoman house.
